Gummy Bear Implants FAQ

Q: Are breast implants safe?

A: Very. While there are always risks of complications with any surgical procedure, Dr. Fiorillo is double board certified and regarded as one of the best in his field. He and his highly trained team strive to ensure the safety of their patients. During your consultation, all considerations will be covered, including possible (though unlikely) risks.

Q: Am I eligible for Gummy Bear implants?

A: Breast implants have been approved for use in augmentation in two cases:

  1. Primary augmentation to increase the size and proportions of the breast(s) in women at least 22 years old.
  2. Revision-augmentation surgery to correct or improve the result of a previous primary augmentation. Revision augmentation includes replacing an existing breast implant.

Women who have lost breast tissue to cancer or injury or want to correct a congenital anomaly may use Gummy Bear implants. This is considered breast reconstruction and Dr. Fiorillo can help you decide if Gummy Bears are best for you.

As with other surgeries, you should let your doctor know if you have any previous medical disorders or conditions that may affect how your body reacts to a surgery.

Q: Are Gummy Bear implants expensive compared to other types of implants?

A: While it is true that Gummy Bear implants do cost slightly more than other silicone gel implants, you must take all factors into consideration. With increased longevity due to decreased rates of rupture and capsular contracture, Gummy Bears are often the more cost-effective option in the long run.

Q: What shapes and sizes of Gummy Bears are available for my body type?

A: During your consultation, you and Dr. Fiorillo will agree upon a size and shape based on body measurements and personal preferences. Gummy Bears come in low, moderate, and high profile round as well as oval and teardrop shape.

Q: What are the differences between the shape options?

With a round base, height and width are equal to one another. With the oval base, width is larger than height. With the classic base, height is larger than width.

Ultimately, you will make a final decision with Dr. Fiorillo’s guidance to choose a shape that will create the proportions and shape that you’ve always imaged your breasts having.

Just in case your recovery takes a few days longer, prepare things such as filling prescriptions and shopping for groceries in advance.
